Newsroom Ready: Ontario party leaders split on drug decriminalization
Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says her party would work with the federal government on decriminalizing drugs for personal use if elected to form government this week, but Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca says it isn't part of his party's platform. The issue emerged on the last day of the election campaign following the announcement that British Columbia would be the first province in Canada to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of some illicit drugs for personal use in an effort to address the overdose crisis.
