Nova Scotia withholds approval, seeks more information on Northern Pulp mill's effluent plan
Nova Scotia Environment Minister Gordon Wilson says the province doesn't have enough information to determine if Northern Pulp's project will harm the environment, and the company can't move forward until it files a full environmental assessment report. The minister says the new information is required to properly assess the company's plans for a new effluent treatment plant and a 15-kilometre pipeline near Pictou, N.S.
