Newsroom Ready: NDP MP Leah Gazan pushes Bennett on MMIWG action plan
NDP MP Leah Gazan says Indigenous women are facing even greater risks of violence because of isolation measures aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19. She urges the Liberal government to complete the national action plan it had earlier said would come in time for the one-year-anniversary of the final report of the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. In the House of Commons, Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett says a national action plan must also involve the provinces.
